Premcar is a Melbourne-based automotive engineering company with 30 years of experience in engineering, developing, and secondary manufacturing of new vehicles for major global carmakers. They manage complex projects from design to production, generating substantial technical documentation and engineering specifications that require reliable, high-quality printing.
The project:
Premcar has been a Copysonic client since 2018. During that time, their business growth necessitated new and extra office facilities.
Their relocation to new and larger premises revealed the need for new printing infrastructure.
Their existing devices, which had served them well previously, were now stretched thin across a larger footprint. Some machines were nearing the end of their lease terms, while others were positioned in the wrong locations for the new workflow.
The engineering and admin departments, now operating in separate areas, both needed reliable access to high-quality printing and scanning for technical specifications, compliance documents, and project files.
What worked in the old office wasn’t going to cut it in the new one.
Premcar needed a solution that would:

The challenge: Premcar needed to scale their printing environment to match their business growth, without overinvesting in equipment or leaving critical departments undersupported.
The solution:
After walking through Premcar’s new facilities and reviewing their usage data, Copysonic saw an opportunity. Rather than simply replacing expired equipment one-for-one, the team mapped out where printing demand was concentrated across the business.
The analysis revealed a clear pattern. Two specific areas, engineering documentation and admin operations, were carrying the heaviest workloads. There was no room for devices to go down inside these departments.
TaskAlfa MZ5000ci
Instead of spreading resources evenly across all locations, Copysonic recommended concentrating investment where it would deliver the greatest impact. The solution involved:
- Strategic upgrades: Two new Kyocera TaskAlfa MZ5000ci devices (high-speed, 50ppm colour A3 multifunction machines) were installed in the engineering and admin departments to handle heavy workloads.
- Redeployment of existing equipment: Machines that were still functional but approaching the end of their leases were relocated to lower-demand areas of the business, extending their useful life without additional capital expense.
- Consolidated maintenance: By standardising on Kyocera devices and bundling service agreements, Premcar simplified their maintenance schedule and reduced overall costs.
- Seamless rollout: Copysonic managed the entire transition – removing old equipment, installing new devices, configuring network integration, and training staff – minimising disruption during the office move.
Premcar got exactly what they needed: powerful printers where work was busiest, and existing machines redeployed where volume was lighter. The setup reduced downtime, cut costs, and offered the ability to scale alongside their continued business growth.
